It was all done without fanfare. British Telecom, the UK communications giant, softly decided not to proceed with Webwise, the technology from Phorm that delivered ads to customers after tracking their Web surfing history.
BT had tested Phorm secretly on its customers, which has prompted privacy complaints and an investigation from the European Union, but has decided not to proceed with it, a decision which has caused Phorm’s share price to drop by a massive 43%.
