The Philips Cinema 21:9 ultra widescreen TV just got a tasty little teaser website that shows you just how good that screen ratio can be, right from your monitor!
Head on over to cinema.philips.com and you’ll be presented with the option to watch a short film inside a mocked up Philips Cinema 21:9 TV. It’s a clever little crime thriller with astonishing special effects, and well worth a gander. It also accurately demonstrates why Cinema 21:9 is worth getting excited about.
Considering their recent financial troubles, we’re not sure where Philips found the cash to make this staggeringly well-made demo to show off the Cinema 21:9 TV, but it’s an absolute corker.
Built around a Hollywood-quality heist film, it makes cracking use of the full movie widescreen. You can switch between Cinema 21:9 and the traditional 16:9 widescreen ratio to see the benefit of Philips’ ultra-widescreen display, and it even demos the Ambilight tech inside the Philips Cinema 21:9 too, matching the backlight colour to the action on-screen.
Sadly, watching the short film on the Philips Cinema 21:9 website is a lot cheaper than buying one. The Philips Cinema 21:9 is out in June for the staggering price of €4,000 (£3,500), but you could easily watch this video on loop until the interest in your bank account reaches that.
